Legal & Human Resource Manager

Job Overview & Description

The POSITION oversees the daily operations of the Beauty Business and carries out services with specific emphasis on Human Resources & Legal functions of the entire business. Ensuring that: (1) Formal & Documented Staff Training is carried out to ensure that departments run smoothly and efficiently; (2) All employee have a detailed HR file. (3) Compliance to Employee Handbook (4) Review and documentation of all Contracts & Agreements (Purchase orders inclusive). The position also helps ensure that the business is profitable through business development and marketing efforts, implementation of controls, and effective work place culture. The position performs human resource functions such as recruiting, hiring and training with due approval required from CEO prior to execution as well as ensuring that the policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook are followed.

Job Responsibilities

Human Resources

  • Schedule employees to ensure staff is always available to provide services
  • Monthly Payroll, Develop & Enforce Employee Handbook policies and procedures
  • Conduct performance and annual review of staff
  • Organize and schedule Staff Training
  • Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
  • Maintains organization staff by establishing a recruiting, testing, and interviewing program;
  • counseling managers on candidate selection; conducting and analyzing exit interviews; recommending changes.
  • Prepares employees for assignments by establishing and conducting orientation and training programs.
  • Maintains a pay plan by conducting periodic pay surveys; scheduling and conducting job evaluations; preparing pay budgets; monitoring and scheduling individual pay actions; recommending, planning, and implementing pay structure revisions
  • Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work (performance management systems) results by training managers to coach and discipline employees;
  • scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counseling employees and supervisors.
  • Maintains employee benefits programs and informs employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommending benefit programs to management; directing the processing of benefit claims;
  • designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs.

Legal Representation

  • Reviews lease and purchase contracts
  • Develops relevant contracts for business operations.
  • Obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids; awarding benefit contracts;
  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements;
  • conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings. 


  • Participate/Conduct weekly staff and management meetings
  • Work closely with Management on business development ideas and revenue streams in line with core business functions and goals
  • Contribute to the Expansion Plan and International benchmarks based on strategic vision

Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) ;
  • Barrister at Law(BL) from the Nigerian Law School
  • Any experience in Human Resource Management will be an added advantage.
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience, post call to the Nigerian Bar required

marketing experience; project management skills; attention to detail; deadline oriented and goal oriented; good communication skills with command of English language; articulate; presentation skills; knowledge of Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
